  • February Saw Thunderbirds F.A.B. at the Playhouse Theatre, London. Great fun if you're a fan of the works of Gerry Anderson - Wyn isn't!
  • March Went to see Buddy at the Strand Theatre, London. Recommended if you enjoy a bit of Rock 'n' Roll. Useless Facts (no 23 in a series of 1,589): Buddy Holly died before Wyn was born
  • March Saw Dick Barton - Special Agent, Wimbledon Theatre. Great fun.
  • March Wyn went to Scotland for a long weekend while Richard looked after all the kids and went to work. Not that I'm bitter!
  • April Sunsail, Galini, Levkas, Greece 360 degree view. Cold and wet! Due to the weather we only spent half a day out of ten dingy sailing. Spent most of the week expanding our yacht skills (thanks Ian and Jackie ). Andrew fell down some steps so we also paid a visit to a Greek hospital.
  • April Went to see 'Magic', a Queen tribute band, at Wimbledon Theatre. Great 'sing-along' fun and excellent music.
  • May Day trip to Paris using half price vouchers from severely delayed trip to Disneyland last year. Thank you Eurostar! As it was half price we went 1st Class. Nosh both ways and wine on the way back - the only way to travel - when it's half price!
  • May Wyn and Richard went to northern France for the weekend. Stayed near St Omer/Arques at a friend's house. Went to an excellent restaurant Les 3 Mousquetaires. It is also a hotel and is recommended for a special weekend away. Also visited the First World War site at Vimy Ridge and the Fontinettes Boat Lift at Arques which is based on the Anderton Lift. Both are worth a visit.
  • May/June Andrew is taking his remaining GCSEs (one was taken last year)
  • June Wyn going away (again). This time to Lille with members of her French class. Would you let your wife go to France without you for French lessons?
  • June/July Weekend away on the sailing Wherry 'White Moth' from Horning, Norfolk. A great time was had by all including a visit to Woodforde's Brewery Tap the 'Fur and Feather'. The Brewery's logo is the Wherry 'Albion' which is owned by The Norfolk Wherry Trust. See the Links page for Wherry contacts.
  • July Central France. Nicols 1000 boat from the base at Roigny les Sept Ecluses on the Canal de Briare to Sancerre on the Canal Lateral de la Loire. Crossed the impressive Canal Pont de Briare which was built by Gustav Eiffel of tower fame. The weather was excellent apart from a couple of huge thunder storms. French storms seem a lot bigger and louder than ours!
  • August Richard went to the Great British Beer Festival at Olympia. Some interesting beers drunk although the choice tends to be a little limited by the Friday.
  • August Went to visit Mary and Mick in Peterborough over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hired a Comet Trio dinghy and went sailing around Ferry Meadows for a couple of hours then went to the Peterborough beer festival in the evening.
  • September Andrew started Taikwando
  • September Richard went sailing for the weekend around the Solent with some friends of a colleague from work. Makora, a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36.2, was booked from Peculiar Yachts at Haslar Marina, Gosport (across the river from Portsmouth). Saw the northern coast of the Isle of Wight from end to end and visited Lymington.
  • Autumn Sunsail Yedi Tepe club near Bodrum, Turkey. Excellent weather and very cheap restaurants. The record was food and drinks for four for under £8. A Big Mac for 50p if you should want it - we didn't.
  • November Andrew entered his first Taikwando tournament in Bournemouth and came back with a bronze medal.
  • December Wyn off to Dunkeld, Scotland for the weekend.
  • December To overcome the regular conflict between phone and Internet we have moved to a Telewest phoneline and Blueyonder broadband Internet connection. Our phone number remains the same.
  • December Andrew passed his driving theory test and is now taking a 'crash' course to prepare him for his practical test in January 2002.
  • December Went to see a stage adaptation of the book Captain Corelli's Mandolin at the Pleasance Theatre in north London.
